Heroic Story announced a $6 million funding round led by Upfront Ventures. Multicoin Capital and Polygon Technology also took part in the fundraising.
Heroic Story is a web3 gaming protocol founded in 2019 by Y-Combinator founders Jay Rosenkrantz and his brother Scott. The community-owned collaborative world-building platform is based on smart contracts and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Heroic Story’s seed round raised the total capital to $7.4 million. Several angel investors also took part in the fundraiser, including A16z Games Fund One founding investor Jonathan Lai, Steve Archanseth – CEO of Team Liquid, Richard Ma of Quantstamp, Orange DAO, George Strompolos – founder of Fullscreen, Wolfgang Hammer – CEO film companies. at Miramax, as well as Ryan and Kaz Firpo, who co-wrote the Marvel movie The Eternals.
Heroic Story also honored previous supporters of the project, including Transcend Fund, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin, and Thirdweb’s Holly Liu (Kabam) and Furkan Ridan.
The company said it will use the new funding to expand its workforce and accelerate its beta platform’s publicity campaign. Heroic Story is also looking to accelerate the development of its network technology for a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) controlled by professional craftsmen.
Heroic released its first game, Legends of Fortunata, in 2021. The game can now be played through the game platform closed pass.
