Thirdverse gets $15 million to build Web3 studio and VR Games

Thirdverse completed a $15 million funding round led by MZ Web3. The manufacturer of VR and web3 games will allocate funds to accelerate the development of its studio. The company said it is also recruiting game creators and other professionals around the world.

As part of the expansion, Thirdverse plans to develop new games for virtual reality (VR) and web3. His new web 3 and virtual reality game Captain Tsubasa: Rivals, announced in October, is already in development in collaboration with Blocksmith & Co.

In the latest funding round, Thirdverse’s total fundraising reached $33 million. Commenting on the fundraiser, Hironao Kunimitsu, CEO of Thirdverse, said in a statement, “We are thrilled to partner with the MZ Web3 Fund for the future growth of our team and investment in Web3 and VR. On the other hand, Yusaku Maezawa, CEO of MZ Web3 Fund, praised Thirdverse’s leadership and the VR and blockchain gaming team, expressing his excitement about participating in the company’s next phase of growth.

“We believe that the VR and Web3 gaming industry has a great future and that Thirdverse is in a unique position to capitalize on the market’s growth trends and the remarkable experience of its team,” said Maezawa.

Thirdverse has an exciting portfolio of VR games that includes the VR sword game Altair Breaker, announced in August for Meta Quest2 and PCVR. In September, the company also announced the multiplayer tactical shooter X8, and in November revealed that both games were included in Sony’s PlayStationVR2, which is scheduled to debut in February 2023.
