Adidas Originals launches its first collection of NFT digital wearables. The 16-piece limited edition marks the launch of a new category of adidas Originals products that the brand has dubbed “Virtual Gear”.

WHO CAN WEAR THIS FIRST ADIDAS VIRTUAL GEAR COLLECTION?

Next week, adidas will release the PFP Changer, allowing this first edition of the adidas Virtual Gear collection to be worn by PFP avatars from compatible collections, primarily Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club and Inhabitants.

However, while it was previously possible to “write” virtual clothing onto a PFP as a permanent add-on, the real change here is that the new PFP dress-up tool will allow users to change their PFP’s outfits just as they can with regular avatars like Ready. Player Me. versions.

HOW TO GET A PART FROM THE VIRTUAL GEAR CAPSULE

Owners of the adidas Originals: Capsule NFT Collection (24,280 pieces in total), which launched in May 2022, will receive a randomly selected item from the new Virtual Gear Collection for free. They won’t know which one, however, unless they decide to “burn” their NFT capsule — essentially replacing it with a piece from the Virtual Gear collection of digital wearables. For those who do not own the original adidas Originals: Capsule NFT, items from the Virtual Gear Collection will be available for purchase on the secondary market on Opensea.

COLLECTION IN DETAILS

All creative with adidas DNA, items in the Virtual Gear capsule include jackets or sweatshirts of a specific description with WALLRUNNER quilted jackets made from 3D layered shamrocks made from towels, PFD style inflatable down jackets (that’s a personal buoyancy device) and NEOBONE tops. inspired by the rubber outsole pattern of the adidas Superstar sneakers.

SUPER RARE

Three of the 16 limited edition NFT wearable collections refer to adidas’ earliest Web3 partners, Bored Ape Yacht Club, GMoney and Punks Comics, highlighting their ongoing collaboration. BAYC features fluffy red balaclava sweatshirts and Punks Comic leather biker jackets. GMoney products are black down jackets. Each is branded with the insignia of both partners.

While Adidas hasn’t released numbers, these three NTF partnerships are the rarest of them all, with a red Bored Ape Yacht Club hoodie supposed to be the Web3 equivalent of the mythological Golden Fleece.
