Jack Dorsey, co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, created and auctioned the first tweet by NFT in March 2021 and sold it for $2.9 million.
I also remember NYSC corps member Adisa Olashile, who took stunning portraits of the elderly drummer and sold them as NFTs for around 1.5 million naira. The more these thoughts clouded my mind, the more I wanted to know more about Infinix’s recently released NFT collection.
While trying to learn more about the NFT released alongside Zero Ultra by Infinix in October 2022, I came across a podcast on African Tech Radio (ATR) where an NFT enthusiast, Dekunle from Africa, and Temisan sat down to discuss in depth not only Infinix. NFT, but also about the NFT itself.
WHAT IS NFT?
In defining NFT, Themisan, an NFT enthusiast, said that NFT in the fullest sense means a non-fungible token and, unlike typical cryptocurrencies, cannot be replaced. Physical money and cryptocurrencies are fungible, meaning they can be exchanged or exchanged for each other. They are also equal in value—one dollar is always worth another dollar; one bitcoin is always equal to another bitcoin, but in NFT you cannot split or split it.
NFT is an extension of conventional crypto, bitcoin, ethereum. NFT allows the buyer to own the original product. Not only that, it contains built-in authentication that serves as proof of ownership. Collectors value these “digital bragging rights” almost as much as the item itself.
NFTs are digital assets like BTC and represent real world objects like art, music, game items and videos. They also have unique identification codes, although NFT is a global innovation, some countries regulate it, the value of NFT is tied to the value people are willing to receive.
Anything you can own in the real world can be owned on the blockchain, you just have to be able to show the blockchain like through the creator.
According to Temisan, blockchain is a decentralized protocol, it is similar to the distributed modes of the network around the world, so this means that at any given time, different modes in different places interact with each other. Dekunle from Africa added that the information about these blockchains is public, no one can claim information that is not from them.
Speaking about why he loves NFT Infinix so much, Africa’s DeKunle said he loves that the overall collection is about space, which aligns with the space exploration theme associated with ZERO ULTRA. Infinix encouraged everyone to explore further with the release of the smartphone. He added that each NFT represents a space explorer from another planet and is equipped with abilities that reflect the technological advances featured in Infinix’s ZERO ULTRA.
After naming the 5 NFTs released, he said that the beauty of them is that you don’t have to think about utility. They are:
FLASH from Venus with 180W Thunder Charge, ZERO ULTRA is the epitome of super power. This is a super-rare, special edition NFT collection. With 180W Thunder Charge technology, the device’s battery is fully charged in less than 15 minutes in Furious mode.

Each device owner then scans the code to participate in the lottery in order to be able to receive NFT. Every buyer of Zero Ultra has a chance to get an animated space-themed NFT.
