GTA RPG servers cannot enable cryptocurrencies, loot boxes or NFTs.

GTA RPG servers are a major part of the long-term appeal of Grand Theft Auto 5 and Online. These servers often drastically change the structure of the multiplayer game, allowing players to play out fantasies such as cops and robbers, plan online bank heists, or form factions that rule parts of the open world game. However, Rockstar and Take-Two have some rules regarding these GTA RPG servers, including how they deal with the crypto, NFTs, and loot boxes that end up on them.

This is because Rockstar recently answered a question about whether third-party GTA RPG servers are allowed in GTA Online, and while the developer has fully supported the creativity and community behind these servers, he has laid out some rules regarding them. will need to follow.

“Take-Two’s enforcement policy will be aligned with our current PC single player mod policy,” the statement said. This will focus on combating the misuse of Rockstar’s trademarks and intellectual property, real brands, characters and music, “including the sale of ‘loot boxes’ for real currency or its in-game equivalent.”

That’s not all, though, as Take-Two says the lawsuits also extend to virtual currencies used through in-game integration, which extends to “the use of cryptocurrencies or cryptoassets (such as NFTs); creating new games, stories, missions or maps; or interference with our official multiplayer or online services, including Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online.”

While this may all sound pretty terrible in terms of control (not part of NFTs or 3rd party loot boxes, that’s great), Take-Two and Rockstar are perfectly within their rights to protect their property and prevent people from using the scam Cops n’ Server to sell their virtual snake oil to anyone who will listen.

Rockstar also responded to a question about whether RPG servers are allowed in general, and answered yes: “Rockstar Games has always believed in intelligent fan creativity and wants creators to showcase their passion for our games. The RPG Third Party Servers are an extension of the rich set of community-created experiences in Grand Theft Auto that we hope will continue to thrive in a safe and friendly manner for many years to come.”

It’s also become clear that this doesn’t mean “approving” any RPG servers, and that Take-Two can do whatever they want with any side projects, so keep that in mind. In fact, GTA Online FiveM’s server mods “resonate with the policy” laid out by Rockstar, and their own terms of service will be updated soon.

We have a list of the best GTA RP servers and ways to join if you want to find a new place to hang out and get naughty in Grand Theft Auto.
