Bruno Fernandes on Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Manchester United

“I don’t feel uncomfortable. I don’t have to choose a side. It was a privilege for me to play in the national team with Ronaldo, and at the club it was a dream come true, and I have always said that. Cristiano has always been an inspiration to me. It was a dream, but we know that nothing lasts forever. And now Cristiano has made a decision for his life and his career, and we must respect every decision.”

Wales add rainbow flags to corners in training

They were one of seven countries banned from wearing the #OneLove headband on Monday. The USMNT also changed the color of their coat of arms around the training center.

Maybe FIFA will decide that this is also a political symbol…

Lewandowski stays on penalty for Poland

Poland coach Czesław Mihniewicz has said that Poland captain Robert Lewandowski will remain in the penalty spot despite missing in yesterday’s 0-0 draw against Mexico.

Based on expected saves, the strength and location of his penalty would still allow him to score 74 percent of the time.

“No coach tells a player how to score a penalty. Two days ago in training, he did it differently. He made a certain decision during the match, but it’s not the end of the world. Levi knows how to take penalties. As far as I understand, there will be no change in case of a possible fine against Saudi Arabia. Unless it’s Robert’s decision.

Mazraoui injured for Morocco

Phew. It didn’t look good. The Bayern Munich full-back is one of the Moroccan standouts, but he needed to buff up at the hour mark.

He was helped a few minutes ago, but he fell again. The injury appears to have come from diving headfirst after a bad landing. He grabbed his right shoulder. Not a good show. Attait-Allah replaces Mazraoui at left back in Morocco’s first substitution.

Luis Enrique is a fan of extra time

Spain manager Luis Enrique has Twitch! How young! How liberated!

From here, he will post updates throughout the tournament and made some interesting comments about all the stoppage time we’ve seen so far – several times over 10 minutes.

“I really like all stoppage time, primarily because teams like us, who have a lot of possession, always complain that not enough time is actually played.

“So I think it’s great to play so much stoppage time in both halves, maximum effective time (the best). Any team can play how they want, but the more quality minutes played, the better. So I’m very supportive of this measure, that’s right.”

ICYMI: French defender Lucas Hernandez out of World Cup due to knee injury

France took another blow from injury at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with Lucas Hernandez ruled out of the entire tournament after suffering a knee ligament injury on Tuesday when he defeated Australia 4-1.

26-year-old Bayern Munich defender Hernandez limped off the field after suffering a knee injury in a collision with Matthew Leckie.

The Aussie got ahead of Hernandez on the ball and crossed on Craig Goodwin’s first goal.

“Like the entire team, players and staff, I feel very sorry for Lucas,” Deschamps said in a short statement from the French Football Association confirming Hernandez’s injury.

“We are losing an important player. Lucas is a warrior. I know him well and he is a brave player. On behalf of the group, I wish him the best in his recovery.”
